Super Bowl Commercial
The commercial that I found was the best was the, Tide Miracle Stain commercial. In this commercial, two guys are sitting on the couch watching the football game and one guys spills some sauce on his 49ers jersey. The stain just so happened to look like Joe Montana. It was refered to as the "Joe Montana Miracle Stain" in the commercial. After it happens, the man who has the stain on his shirt becomes famous. The 49er's fans from all over the world travel to his house to see the one and only, "Miracle Stain".
The fans believed that since this miracle happened, they will also be blessed with the miracle of winning the super bowl. With the stain, the man creates "Montana Land" with everything logo'ed with Joe Montana's face. One day when he walks into his house, the jersey with the stain was not in its display case. He soon comes to realize that his wife took it and washed it with Tide because it had a "stain on it". As his face expressed shock, she hands it back to him and calmly says, "Go Ravens".
In this commercial, the consumers needs were a way to get the stains out of there game day shirts. The target audience for this commercial was specifically sports fans who do laundry or want to get a stain out of their favorite jersey. This ad clearly displays the guy's love for the jersey and in the end, Tide worked to ultimately get the stain out even though that one stain was considered a "Miracle". I think the ad's target audience was very specific to sports fans who do laundry because the commercial is all about the obsession of a football jersey. I believe this commercials target audience was very clever because they aired it during the Super Bowl which is one of the most watched football games of the year. I think the commercial is very effective in gaining the attentions of its target audience and viewers.
One thing that I particularly liked about the commercial was that it was very funny and straight to the point. Some commercials dont create add's that I feel have a good representation of the product they are trying to promote. The commercial also kept me interested in watching what was happening. It was exciting and when it was on, I didnt feel the need to look away once; that's how I can tell it's an enjoyable commercial.
The ad was mainly created to be viewed during the 49er's vs. The Ravens because those were the two teams they included in the commercial. However, I do believe the commercial would be just as effective if viewed after the Super Bowl because it could just be a normal couple who rooted for different teams. I would not change the commercial whatsoever, I enjoyed it and I believe it was the best out of all the commercials I saw. This commercial got it's point across, promoted its product, and fit it into what everyone was interested in watching which was the Super Bowl.

Hi Haley,
ReplyDeleteI also liked the ad you wrote about. I think that commercial was very funny and a good choice to write about. I agree that this was a perfect time to show the commercial because it was about the two teams involved in the Super Bowl. The commercial was geared towards the stain and the 49ers. It also appealed to Ravens fans since the wife washed the stain out with tide. I do think the ad would still have been effective if it was viewed after the Super Bowl but I think they should change teams if it was played after the Super Bowl. It definitely kept me interested like you said. I was entertained and curious where the commercial would go. Also, I liked that it was straight to the point. I didnt have to think about what the commercial meant. Some commercials are hard to follow and you have no clue what they are advertising.
