Super Bowl Commercial

I am one of those people that actually watches the Super Bowl for the Super Bowl. I know, it sounds very outdated, but it is true. I do enjoy the excitement of new commercials that companies spend millions to air during this time, but it will never come close to the excitement that the game itself brings. One commercial, however, that I thoroughly enjoyed, was the Samsung: Next Big Thing advertisement with Seth Rogan and Paul Rudd. Samsung is a widely-known company that is very popular for the Android phones they produce. In this commercial, the company is advertising their new phone, the Galaxy s3. This commercial was meant for humor, as Samsung was calling in Seth Rogan and Paul Rudd to pitch them ideas for a big commercial that they were going to make. They start off the ad by bashing each other back and forth until they hear the news that they will be working together. When they are taken to a room to discuss ideas, the Samsung representative asks them if they know any possible celebrity endorsements as they are very important in a commercial. Soon, they are wrapped up in all their crazy ideas on how to make the Galaxy s3, "the next big thing."

This advertisement was reaching out to consumers everywhere who are interested in a new phone. They made the Galaxy s3 seem like it really was "the next best thing." They had Seth Rogan and Paul Rudd already in the commercial, and then they brought in the king, Lebron James. Now the commercial has interested a wide range of consumers, especially basketball fans. The producers' of this commercial clearly spent a lot of money to make it as appealing and humorous as it was, so what better place for it to premiere than the Super Bowl?

This commercial definitely reached its targeted audience with all of its celebrity endorsements and successful humor. It was a call of action to consumers to step up, buy this phone, and be a part of the next big thing.

What I really enjoyed about this advertisement was the humor that was found throughout the two minute run-time. I am a big fan of both Seth Rogan and Paul Rudd, so when the commercial first came on the air, it immediately grabbed my attention. The only thing that i disliked about it was the fact that it was only two minutes long. I could have watched these guys go back and forth for hours. I feel as though this commercial will be re-used, only in a much shorter, less humorous version to save money.

This advertisement was definitely worth the massive amount of money that was needed to make it happen. Already, two days after it aired, the YouTube video of this commercial has over eight million views, and people everywhere, including me, are discussing it. This will most likely give a healthy boost to their new product, and the many more to come.
