A man named Julius Freed who opened an orange juice
stand in 1962 started Orange Julius. The name Orange Julius derived because of
people saying "Give me an orange, Julius." His real-estate
broker was the one who started opening many Orange Julius stores all over
the US.
Orange Julius is now owned by International Dairy Queen, which also owns
Dairy Queen, and Karmelkorn. Reasons to franchise with them would be because of
the great image they already have as a company. They have won awards; have
built up a great relationship with customers, and a history of 70 years behind
them.

No bad press that I can find has been spread about Orange Julius. The
biggest news that has happened to the company was when Dairy Queen took them
over in 1987. Over the years, American Dairy Queen had had issues being sued by
their franchise groups. This was because of American Dairy Queen was charging
added cost to Dairy Queens that wanted to add Orange Julius products to their
franchise when they renewed their agreement.
There is an Orange Julius around Dudley, in Auburn Mass. It is located
inside the Auburn Mall, and is one of the five thousand seven hundred locations
in the world.
"I
really enjoy being a DQ Orange Julius operator. A DQ Orange Julius store is a
fun business to operate and is easy to manage compared to other quick service
restaurants. The design of the store is very competitive within the mall food
service environment. The representatives I work with at ADQ are very helpful,
cooperative & professional. I would highly recommend this concept to anyone
looking for a new business opportunity."
This is a
testimonial from Ron Hein, who owns an Orange Julius in Dover, Delaware.
The support given when opening an Orange Julius is
given through advertising, the grand opening, a newsletter, meetings, the Internet,
evaluations, and a toll-free phone line. Absentee ownership is allowed, and you
will need ten to twenty employees, as well as general business experience.
Mandy,
ReplyDeleteI really liked your post because it was very informative. It’s funny how a simple orange juice stand can turn into a huge franchise, over the course of seventy years, which is present across the nation! I know that, personally, I love orange juice and I love Orange Julius. I also love Dairy Queen and wish we had one closer than Spencer, MA. My dad loves it so much that he actually joked one time saying that he was going to open one in Dudley..wishful thinking. I actually wasn’t aware that Dairy Queen owns Orange Julius, but hey, great combination! I totally agree with the great image that the franchise has. I’ve never heard anything bad about neither Orange Julius nor Dairy Queen, which is rare. It really shows the care that each franchisee takes in running their store. They really want to keep that great reputation!
Hello Mandy,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your blog, it was very interesting! I love how the name came about, it’s an interesting story and I never would have thought. It does seem like a great place to franchise, because of all the experience they have under their belt; especially since they have dairy queen on their side. I personally never been to a dairy queen, but I heard they have good items on their menu. That’s also a plus not having any bad feed about Orange Julius, it’s rare for a facilities not to have something bad written about it. They must consider a lot with their reputation; it would be a nice place to consider opening up. They give you a lot of support, so you are never truly alone while running this business which is very fortunate! It seems like a nice facilities, but I think they need one in western mass so I can have the dairy queen experience!
