Super Bowl Commercials

Super Bowl Commercials

There is so much hype that goes with the Super Bowl and the Super Bowl commercials, but why do companies spend so much money to advertise their product?  Well I think Audi took the gold home with their commercial called "Prom." The ad was for Audi cars and for what is to come in 2013.  No specific cars are mentioned in the commercial, but the Audi S8 was the car used in the commercial and definitely will see an increase in interest over the car.  The commercial has a teenage boy going to Prom by himself which is very embarrassing, but as he is about to leave his father tosses him the keys to a brand new 2013 Audi S8.  If anyone has ever driven in a stylish expensive car as a young kid you all know it is one of the most thrilling experiences.  So the kid gets to the prom and walks onto the dance floor with a certain swagger and just grabs a beautiful girl and kisses her.  The girl had a date which was the prom king and he punches the new brave boy in the eye.  The black eyed boy then speeds off in the Audi with excitement and pleasure leaving the girl wanting more.

From what the consumers saw is that they need this car if they want to accomplish things in life.  The Audi cars make you braver which could target a lot of young people coming out of college looking to get an edge any way possible.  Commercials during the Super Bowl are the most watched commercials ever.  Usually when commercials come on during a TV show someone will change to another station, but for the Super Bowl commercials are also watched with anticipation.  I think the commercial was successful in gaining the attention of anyone really.  There was no target audience except for people who can drive.  People can relate to this video because some time in their life there was definitely a girl that you were just too scared to talk to and people were able to relate to that boy who drove his dad’s Audi.  I personally thought the ad was very creative and funny.  It caught my attention and that Audi S8 is such a beautiful car.  This ad can be used again.  The first airing was for the Super Bowl, but the ad could be used over and over.  The 3 million dollar question is clear.  Why do companies spend so much money just to advertise?  Well Audi is a well known car brand, but just airing a good commercial can increase sales by so much because of how the commercial makes people feel.  I think a lot of companies should have saved their 3 million because even without their commercials they will still do a lot of business.  That’s why you didn’t see any McDonalds’ commercials last night.  However, Audi definitely did succeed in properly informing consumers of how impressive their line of cars is and I’d say money well spent Audi!
