Oreo Cookie Super Bowl Commercial
The Superbowl commercial I chose was the Oreo cookie commercial. In the commercial there is a person eating an Oreo cookie describing how he likes the cream part of the Oreo. Sitting across the table from him is another man disagreeing with him and thinks the cookie part is the best part of the Oreo. What I didn't mention was the fact that they were whispering the whole time because they are in a library. When other people in the library "hear" these two men arguing over the best part of part of an Oreo, a riot breaks out and every one starts fighting eachother over what the best part of the Oreo is. The need that is showed is what part of the Oreo does the consumer like the most. They have the ability to voice their side by going on Instagram and voting. It seems like the commercial pertains to everyone, or everyone who likes Oreos, or cookies in general for that matter. I say this because in the commercial there is a wide variety of demographics shown. There are men, women, young people, old people, and many more. I think they decided to show this commercial during the Superbowl because almost everyone watches the Superbowl every year so everyone will be able to see it and then others who may not know about Oreos but watch the Superbowl will be able to hear about Oreo cookies. This commercial does help in gaining their target audience because a wide variety of people watch the Superbowl and a wide variety of people like Oreos so put that together then they can keep the audience that they already had and gain more.
This ad seems to do both show off the product and call the consumer to action. The commercial is a call to action for the consumer because at the end of the commercial it tells the consumer to go on Instagram and pick their side, either the cookie or the cream. In general, I liked the commercial throughout because it is just genuinely funny and enjoyable. This ad is not just for the Superbowl, it could be used for any other commercial time. I feel that the point of this commercial was to create sales for the brand. This shown throughout the commercial because at the end it tells the viewer to go on-line and chose what is your favorite part of the Oreo cookie. And by going on-line and deciding, you create publicity for the brand and it brings in more and more consumers.

Mike, I think that this commercial is funny as well. The fact that it shows all kinds of people in the commercial is reassuring the point that anybody can relate to the commercial and that everybody likes at least one part of the Oreo. I don't think that the commercial would makes me go vote for which part is best, even though that is what it asks the watcher to do, especially since I do not have an Instagram. At the least, the commercial puts the thought of Oreos in my head, possibly making me want to go and buy them. I agree with the statement that the commercial can be used for more then just the Super Bowl, even though the Super Bowl is a great place to have the commercial because so many people watch the Super Bowl, not even just to watch the game, but for the entertaining commercials that usually come along with it.

The way that everyone would just take sides to either liking the cookie or the cream was too funny because they just kept fighting each other. Since they were whispering, it made it funnier because when people argue they tend to just start yelling at each other because they were in a library. To me, I feel that they could use this ad all the time and not just during the Super Bowl because it caught my eye and made me want to eat some Oreos. My question is, what side of would you take? Do you like the cookie or the cream more?
