SUPER BOWL

The Commercial that I enjoyed the
most during the super bowl was the Doritos, goat for sale commercial. The ad begins
with a man walking down the street eating Doritos. He runs into a goat for sale
that is also eating his brand of Doritos. The man buys the goat thinking it
will be fun to have a pet to share his Doritos with. In the next scene the goat
is in the new owner’s house eating Doritos with him. This man’s house is filled
with bags of Doritos. He starts getting annoyed because the goat is constantly
crunching away on the chips. The next day the goat went looking for Doritos,
only to find the shelves empty. The goat then opens the door to his owner’s
bedroom and sees the Doritos all hidden away. The next day the goat is back up for sale.
This advertisement identifies our needs to have something to snack on in
between our regular three meals. The ad targets middle-class American families,
just like you and I. The scene takes place in an average neighborhood with men
that are dressed as working class men. Children who see this commercial would
also be drawn to this product because of the good natured humor of the ad. In
choosing the Super Bowl to advertise this product, they were sure to get one of
the largest audiences of the year, with all types of people watching. Super
Bowl Sunday is a big “party” day and even people who don’t like football are
glued to the TV to view the commercials. The advertisement was effective in
gaining the attention of the viewing audience with the extremely large number
of bags of Doritos, and the squealing goat that find his chips gone. The
commercial was basically presenting the Doritos brand in a fun and humorous
way. I particularly liked the humor with the goat munching on the chips,
screaming when they were gone, and mysteriously closing the door behind itself
when he found the secret stash of chips in the bedroom. I can see this add
being played throughout the year as it had no mention of football or the Super
Bowl. I think this ad will create sales through informing consumers about
Doritos, possibly getting people to switch to that brand as well as keep eating
that brand. I mean if a goat can’t go without Doritos, how can we!
Although I did not see the commercial. I have seen many of the Doritos commercials I think that this one is intersting and also creative in many ways because of how the company promoted made and the adverstisment for this commerical mainly because it is differnt from all the other ones I have seen and they used a differnt animal than all the other Super Bowl commericals.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that the Doritos commercials are the funniest every year for the Super Bowl. This commercials was very funny because the story line behind it. I like that every year the Doritos company comes up with different ways to entertain their views. The ideas that they come up with are very creative. They also do contest for viewers to come up with a Doritos commercial idea and thats what makes their company and commercials better. The reason why this is one of the commercials I remembered is because they are usually the first commercials to show and because they are different. That is because they use animals and use them for the humor of the commercial. What sticks out the most in this commercial is the humor more than the actual brand. The humor comes from the goat eating all the chips, how he is crunching on the chips, and when the man took his chips back and was writing a "Goat 4 Sale" sign. This is why it was also one of my favorites!
