The ad I liked the most during this years Super Bowl was the
Doritos Ad. I thought this one was the best simply because of the humor that
was added into it. It started off with a goat being sold and a man eating
Doritos buying it. After the goat ate all of the mans Doritos at his house the
man wanted to sell the goat back and ended with the idea of the goat beating up
the man. The main message was that Doritos are delicious and everyone/thing
likes them. The consumer needs in this Ad was the delicious taste of Doritos.
It was emphasizing that their brand of food is good and people should buy them.
The target market for this commercial was most likely kids teenagers and maybe
some adults. The reason for this being that those target groups are most likely
to buy this type of food. It is shown with the older man buying the goat and
eating the Doritos. The humor part with the goat was for the teenagers and kids
entertainment most likely. The advertiser probably picked this group because
they did some market research and found this was the group that bought the most
bags of Doritos. They also picked the Super Bowl because they knew that
millions of Americans of all ages were watching the Super Bowl over the
weekend. This was the perfect opportunity for them to release this commercial
and get it out to people. I do believe this was a successful commercial that
grabbed the attention of viewers. The main reason I think that is because the
first time I saw it I thought it was very funny and wanted to watch it again. I
will make the connection between Doritos and this commercial the next time I
see them at the store. This Ad was just getting the brand out there. It didn’t
seem they were trying to get people to take action but more of thinking about
their brand. I like the addition of the goat in the Ad it was extremely funny
and made the Ad that much more enjoyable to watch. This Ad could definitely be
reused but they might choose not to. The reason I think this is that they want
people to think about the Super Bowl Ads and have that Doritos Ad as one of
their favorites. They wont try to over use it. I believe this Ad was worth the
pay. This Ad will create sales and maybe change behavior of others to start to
buy their foods. The reason being it was funny and memorable for the viewers.
They could have put in some more demand to buy their product to increase sales
a little bit, but besides that it was very effective.

ReplyDeleteI thought this ad was hilarious as well. I totally agree with you on the target audience and why the company chose to spend millions of dollars to air the ad during the Super Bowl. I thought that maybe it is an ad that they would continue to show again but I hadn’t thought about your take on that situation. The company may decide that they want people to look back on the Super Bowl and have the Doritos ad stick out in their mind and this may keep them from replaying it; your perspective makes complete sense and I hadn’t thought of it that way before. I would assume that Doritos’ sales are on top compared to other chip brands but the ad may increase sales even more. If anything, the ad just reminded me of how much I do love Doritos!
