Jewelry Repair & Design

  1. Stephen,
I feel jewelry plays an underrated role in peoples live. When men are shopping for the women in their lives, what's the first thing they think of buying? Jewelry! It's good to see the man you interviewed has had a lot of success, and quite frankly, I was surprised. There are so many different jewelry stores all over malls and shopping plaza's. People usually go for the big names first, like Kay Jewelers, or Zales. My mom used to work for White Hall Jewelers at the Emerald Square Mall in North Attelboro, Ma. The company eventually went out of business because they couldn't keep up with the bigger jewelry companies. Also, places like these are huge robbery targets. You see it on the news all the time how someone wanted to check out a diamond, then the culprit takes it and runs off. I hope JDR is successful in the future!

  2. Stephen,
I learned a lot about jewlery stores and this small business and it was very interwsting to me. I go shopping for my girlfreind a lot and i ussually end up buying her jewlery. This business is smart to go in to because people always have reasons to buy jewlery whether it is a birthday gift, anniversery gift, or a christmas gift. I also found it intersting that the person who started this business did not need much money, they needed more time. I did not see many setbacks in this mans journey to owning a successful small business, this man must be very smart. Although there are so many brand name jewlery stores, I tend to pick the stores in town that are family owned because i love my town and i feel like i am helping it by doing so.

  3. Just like my entrepreneur, your entrepreneur has love for working with jewelry. He is right, without customer loyalty and satisfaction your business will not be successful. Taxes and paperwork is the hardest thing to do when you start a business. Best way to beat competition is to have lower prices with better the quality. I like his idea about the best way to get his business out there is by word of mouth and Facebook. His advise on starting a business is to do what you like, is the best advice you can give. His reasons to start a business was that he loves to work for the customers. This is great because you have customers coming back knowing the that owner loves to help them out. Also his advice to open at good location is great because the location also makes the business successful.
