My name is Carter Moots.  I am from New Milford, CT.  My major is undeclared but I am looking forward to finding that out soon.  My future dream job is to obviously own a fortune 500 company, or something to that extent. I want to work for myself just like many people in my family do, and establish my own successful company, preferably a large one.  If it would be possible for me to step right into a large well established company then I would do so if the opportunity sounded right for me. Currently I am looking for a job this summer, but not just any job.  I want one that is out of the ordinary for a 19 year old that will make me a lot of money and teach me about business along the way while creating a residual income for myself.  I am constantly thinking of new ways to make money and get my name out in the business world.

After looking at those websites you showed us, the young people who stuck out to me the most were Jake Fisher and Weina Scott, both 17, who started Switchpod, a pod casting website.  These two people live thousands of miles away from each other  but still run a business together that they started in high school at very young ages.  I can tell that these people have the right attitude to succeed in life, but most importantly their hard workers.  These high school students currently make a really good amount of money just off of this website.  What I read in this article that really stood out to me was that these specific individuals had the drive and smarts to create a legit business, at the beginning of a new technology bubble, so there would be room for improvement and new ideas. It is amazing that people at such a young age can accomplish so much due to their drive to succeed and their pure knowledge.

  1. Your way of thinking is on the right path. A fortune 500 company is a pretty impressive accomplishment if you’re able to get there. Which I’m sure you will if you put your mind to it. Working for yourself is probably one of the best feelings in the world when you succeed at it and if a lot of your family does it then you’ll feel even better, maybe even one upping them. The fact that you have a constant thinking mind about how to make money is essential to succeed in the business world so your already one step ahead of the game than most people. Since you’re undeclared I and your aspirations are very high to reach a fortune 500 company I would suggest maybe an International Business major. This could give you some necessary skills needed to succeed in the economy of today, a global economy, just a suggestion.

  2. I really like your post. I am also from CT and I believe you are defiantly right about them being hard workers. I believe that hard work is the only way to make money and to be proud of it, that’s why I chose an education major. However, I feel as long as you follow the work ethics these guys probably had, and break the mold a little bit you will be very successful. Good luck!
