Mandy Racicot

My name is Mandy Racicot, and I am hospitality major at Nichols College. Since I have back round in hospitality I have seen how the industry works and know that I want to be a part of it. For a couple years I had a dream of starting my own inn, not a big chain or anything, but just a small independent business. If I were to do this, I would want it to be in a small town somewhere in New England, because that is what feels like home to me. Since I am a beach lover and I would want my customers to have something to do during the day, I would want it to be somewhere near the ocean.

My step dad always said that he would help me in starting this business and run the kitchen part of the inn for me. Since he was a small business owner himself, it would really be a big help to have somebody with experience on board. Since the business he owned was a small restaurant, he would already know what he would have to do and how to keep up with it.

I am really inspired by Blank Label because of the creativity that he had. When he didn't like how expensive custom dress shirts were, he took matters into his own hands and started something that he thought would help that problem. With a huge investment for such a young man, he luckily was successful.

I am also very impressed with the founders of Pinterest. Two friends started this website that was about image viewing, and had a lot of struggles when going starting the business. Now it is known by almost everybody. I am also very impressed because usually technology things tend to only catch on with the younger generations, but my Grandma even mentioned it once!

I admire the strength that people have when starting their own businesses, whether it is alone, with a partner, or with a group, because it shows that they know hope to solve problems and persevere. I hope that one day I will be a person that others look up to when starting their own businesses.
